Congrats Uncle K.C. and Aunt Amber!

We found out today that Madie is going to have a new little boy cousin in November. I'm super excited to have a nephew, to complement my cute little niece Lilly. Only problem with a boy is the girls won't outnumber by AS many. Super exciting news, and I'm sure there will be no problem spoiling a little boy with all the Burns' traditions.
Guess it is time for Uncle Huey to go to Cabela's and make a few purchases! And also a possible idea for the nursery- Burns style, of course!

(Amber, I can provide you with the link to this lovely crib bedding if you beg enough!)

Two of the best baby snacks.........EVER!

Today our highchair was out of commission because we cleaned the carpets yesterday, and moved all the living room furniture into the dining area, blocking in the highchair behind two couches and an ottoman. So for breakfast we had a picnic on our newly cleaned carpets. Crazy as it may sound, it worked just fine with no messes, thanks to a well balanced breakfast of Baby Mum-mums and yogurt melts. These two foods have become Madie and my favorite snacks, and we have even introduced Cousin Lilly and Aunt Suzi to the joys of Mum-mums. The first time we got a box of Mum-mums was when Madie was about 4 months old, and we were in Texas visiting Grandma Smith. We went to Central Market (the most amazing grocery store ever to exist!) and found them with the baby foods. At first Madie didn't really eat them, because she was still a little too young, but about a month later our love affair began. We plowed through the first box within a couple of weeks, and didn't know where to find them in Utah, so Grandma Smith shipped a couple more boxes up to us in Utah, then we found them on Amazon and bought them in bulk to split with Lilly, and used those up super fast. They now have them in Utah at some Wal-Marts, and more places now seem to be carrying them. I feel they are a must have, because they can entertain in the car, stroller, highchair, or anywhere, and they are not messy. Another favorite of ours is Gerber’s yogurt melts. They really taste like yogurt, and they are so fun for Madie, because she gets to reach her hand in the bag and get them on her own.

Welcome Home From Class.............

So, last night I had my Chicano Experiences class till 7:30p.m. so I was late getting home, but Cody was amazing, and already had a wonderful dinner of steamed artichokes and elk steaks with blue cheese just about done (he is wonderful)! Oh, and not to mention, he had Madison happy and content while doing all this. Well, anyways, so, I pull into our alleyway, and just a I approach our driveway, I notice a tan police'ish looking car, going the wrong way pulling into our ally. I didn't think much of it, because I was tired, so I went and checked our mail and brought our garbage and recycling cans in, right by this mystery car. When I walk in, Cody asks me about the car, and if it followed me into the alley, and well, I guess it kinda did. Cody then proceeds to tell me he had a white police'ish looking car circling the block a couple of times while he was walking Madie home in the wagon from a play date over at the Morgan's. So, us being super calm and sneaky, we make every excuse to go out in our back yard to spy on the now determined police car (it lost it's police'ish title when we saw two men sitting in the front totally staking out something). Then we notice the car pulling closer and closer to our driveway, and then stop right behind our house! WHAT?! We didn't do anything wrong, why are we being staked out? The police/detectives then got out of the car, ran through our yard towards the front yard, so we look out the kitchen window to see 2 more police cars out front with officers getting out of those cars. To make me feel super safe and comfortable, they are running down the sidewalk with bullet proof vests on and guns and ammo strapped to their legs, totally swat team style. So, to make a long story short, our neighbor 2 doors down was carried away in handcuffs, and that now leaves us to wonder what was going on. You don't feel so safe in your "Home Sweet Home" after seeing something like that go down. They seemed like good neighbors, they kept their house and lawn nice, but we never see them out, so who knows what is going on inside. But, it was a fun little adventure to see everything go down- I don't know the justice system that well, but from what I've seen on Cops, it isn't some little misdemeanor when 5 cops in bullet proof vests arrest your!

Lately...

Well, as I guess you can see, I have become quite addicted to "bloglifting" regularly. I am starting to think I might change our blog background more often than I change Madie's diapers! (Just kidding, Madie still is charging through $40 Costco sized boxes of diapers quite fast) But, I think I am going to keep this one for a little while, simply because now I have more pertinent things to do on the computer. For the second term of Summer '08 I am taking a Chicano Experiences class, and well, in 6 weeks for that class alone I am going to be reading about 1000 pages, and writing 20 of them! We did go hit a bucket of ball last night, which was fun, and we've been loving the Chick-Fil-A across the street. Here are a few photos of our most recent happenings.

Plumber in the house!

So, Madie is too cool for diaper lately. I don't know why, but on a couple of occasions I have discovered a naked baby in the crib. Well, I am starting to catch her in the act of removing her diaper.

Splish-Splash!

These are the cute bum pants Madie has to wear in the pool on top of her swim diaper. I looked everywhere across town for these pants that look like a shower cap with two holes cut out for her legs!

This is a pretty cute photo I got of Madie while she was having a picnic of grapes with some friends she made at the pool.

And getting either in or out of the pool, I can't remember.

This is the best photo I got of her in the water. She really loved swimming, but would run up to me everytime I tried to take a picture of her.

And last but not least, the tantrum we had the entire walk home, because we had to leave for the day. If any of yall want to go to the splash pool with us, give us a call and we'd love to have you join us in the fun and tantrums home. Just remember it is a BYOVP (bring your own vinyl pants). Hope everyone is having a great summer so far.

Yay for our new camera!

Well, we finally got our new camera, so I feel like summer can begin now, and I won't miss those picture perfect moments any longer! Our old camera got stolen right after we had Madison (jerks! At least it was really old with a bad battery, so whoever stole it didn't get any enjoyment out of it really either) and my mom has been so sweet to let us borrow her camera, but it drove me CRAZY! It used 2AA batteries instead of a rechargeable battery, and I got the rechargeable camera AA batteries, but they just didn't cut it. Every single time I went to take a random cute picture of Madie, the red light would flash, and the camera would turn on only long enough to turn back off. So, finally we just did it, and bought a new camera, and it is awesome! We got the Nikon Coolpix camera (the one that has the stupid commercials with Ashton Kutcher, but I won't hold that too much against the camera) and it is awesome. Of course we haven't had really any "must have" picture moments, so I just decided to take a random picture of Madie eating her favorite lunch- Lunchable JR's and mandarin oranges.

COSTCO Fiasco

So today after school Madie and I went to Costco to buy diapers and some other little things we needed around the house. I should have known this shopping trip was no good from the beginning, when the parking lot was PACKED! But, we needed diapers, and a nice hot churro sounded delish, so we braved the zoo. Once we were done, we got back to our car, and I was loading all our bulk goodies into the car when I hear the lady parked next to me honking.... and honking. I finally turn around to look and see what she was honking at, and to my surprise, my baby and basket are NOT where they were supposed to be, but instead my basket was hauling butt across the driveway with Madie buckled in. Talk about a heart attack! Anyways, I did catch the basket, with Miss Oblivious Madie sitting in it laughing, just before it rammed into a Suburban. So, all is now well in the Burns household, and on our way home from Costco we stopped by Best Buy to look at cameras. I finally decided on a camera, so I just ordered it online. Hopefully it will get here soon so I can start taking some pictures and posting them.
