Tank-gi-ging!

Happy late Thanksgiving everyone (or Thanksgivings if you say it like me)! We had a fun relaxing day on Thursday doing not much more than eating and teaching a 20 month old how to say the simple word Thanksgiving. When we all gathered around the table K.C. started teaching Madie how to say Thanksgiving, and she said it right after him, and surprisingly well for such a long word. I forgot to take pictures, so you will just have to trust me that it was a lot of fun! Yesterday we hit up the Cabela's Black Friday sale, rolling into the parking lot at a super early time of 8:15a.m. (yeah, just not that much motivation to get up a few hours after I went to sleep). It has been a nice long weekend, and the best part about it is that we still have 1 1/2 days left! Hopefully I can get Cody to take me Christmas lighting tonight. OK, so I am sorry this is an uneventful post, just figured something is better than nothing (then again, there is probably nobody that really cares I haven't updated my blog in 4 days). Happy Thanksgiving weekend, everyone!

Oh, it is so close!

I absolutely love Christmas lights! When I lived in Texas every year my Mom, Grandma, and I would drive around and look at lights. It became a family tradition, and we got to know which neighborhoods were always lit up. When we lived in Corpus there was even a house that was notorious in the city for having TONS of lights, and the traffic to get there and see the lights was crazy! Well, since I've lived in Utah we haven't been very good at admiring all the hard work put into getting up their lights. Last year we didn't even go down to Temple Square and look at the lights- total slackers! This year it is going to change, though. We walked down to our friends' house last night, and some of our neighbors already have their lights up, and Madie LOVED them. She is trying to learn to say "lights" so I think she deserves a trip down to Temple Square and around the city to look at lights. And, we are spending Christmas in Texas, so I'm going to talk Cody and my Mom into doing a Ft. Worth lights tour as well. Hey, it will almost make up for the years I have missed!

Oh, just seeing pictures gets me so excited! I can't wait.

Baby Hungry!

We are a little baby hungry around the Burns household lately. This is mainly because we just had the most adorable little nephew born on Monday. Easton Cody Burns was born November 17 at about 7pm. Oh boy, we have been waiting for this little guy, and let me tell you- he was worth the wait! Congrats K.C. and Amber!

My prediction was 4ish pm. Yeah, I was off by a little bit!

Mommy and Daddy during their last hours of freedom and no responsibilities. I don't think Amber remembers that much of this. She shouldn't- that's how you know it is good labor- you can't feel a thing.

That is where the baby goes!

Come on Easton! Lets have a birthday soon! Waiting is never fun, especially when there is a cute little newborn at the end of the wait.

Sweet, sweet baby! Watch out for that Uncle Cody, he already has your first hunting trip planned, I think!

In the kitchen with Madison

Last Sunday Madie and Grandma Burns put on a little cooking presentation for us. Madie showed us how to make delicious cookies, and Grandma showed us she has a lot more patience in the kitchen than I do! It produced a lot of yummy cookies and some very cute pictures.
Mixing the cookie dough... Madie was very good at stirring.
Rolling was a little more difficult of a concept to grasp. Madie kept wanting to roll with her hands in the middle of the rolling pin.
And cutting out the shapes was very complicated. We ate a lot of gingerbread men without arms, legs, heads, or all of the above.

The END!

It's a wonderful day for a birthday!

Easton, we can't wait to hopefully meet you this afternoon! Your Cousin Madison is ready to share all her toys with you and give you a big kiss, and you Uncle Cody keeps talking about how excited he is to hold a newborn (he has been baby crazy with your announcement). I can't wait to watch your cute little face while you are having such sweet baby dreams, and to see your Mommy and Daddy with their little bundle of love. Congrats K.C. and Amber! Hopefully he arrives soon.

Ooops....

I love to stalk other blog and get kinda bummed when there are no new updates! It is fun to know the happenings of yall's fun lives. Well, not to point any fingers, but I had started noticing some of yall have not been updating too much lately (I'm assuming there is so much fun stuff that people aren't having time!) and then I realized I haven't updated in over a week. Although I love my Cody, and like to remember our wonderful first date on Nov. 4th, as a blogger I still have an obligation to make it sound like our life is just one fun event after another and to put tons of pictures of my little Madie up here.

So........ since I feel bad that I'm stalking everyone's blogs and getting bummed when there is nothing new to greet me, I figure I will update my own blog if anyone cares that much.

But......... I am truly starting to feel the pregnancy sleepys (a little late this time- I thought I might sneak by and not get them) so all I have been doing lately is what I absolutely have to. Madie and I are going to school, coming home and visiting with Cody, and then going to sleep at 9 (no, I am not joking, I went to bed at 8:55 last night). I did get my hair cut a couple weeks ago- but I don't have a great picture. This picture is of this past weekend when we went out to the duck club to drop off some stuff, and I was playing with our camera. Sorry, the lighting is horrible, because I had the sun blasting into my side of the truck. And, since it is my obligation as a blogger to post pic of my Madie, I also included one I took of her in the back seat. Notice the camo carseat- we are HARD CORE!

November 4!

Not only is today election day (we both voted this evening and it only took like 30 minutes) but today is also a very special day for Cody and me. It was 3 years ago (although it seems longer, sometimes MUCH longer) today that we went on our first date! Cody and I, and Sue and Ryan went to an ice hockey game.
I thought that on this momentous day I would share a little funny from our first date to let yall know the charming sweet talkings of my hubby. Since it was our first date we of course didn't have all the fun things to talk about that we do now, so I was trying to make small talk. It was cold that night, and even once we got inside it was freezing in the building. I mentioned "it is really cold in here" to which my date (which I had only met a few minutes prior) responds "I think I know why, see that big ring down there? It just happens to be full of ice!" Oh what a charmer!
Three years later I'm still loving the sarcastic whitty remarks, and love Cody more and more each day!

Christmas music!

I was driving home from school today, and to my surprise there is already Christmas music playing on one of the local radio stations. A little early, I think, but I always love the Holiday Season, so I say "jingle all the way"!

Every Sunday should have an extra hour!

It was so nice to wake up this morning and look at the clock saying 8:45 and know really it is only 7:45, so I hadn't slept my Sunday morning away! I really think every week we should gain an hour- oh that would be nice! With us getting up "on time," we were able to have a fun laid back morning while waiting for Cody to get home from hunting. While Madie was making her Sunday morning blanket bed on the ottoman I was fixing yummy oooey-goooey cinnamon rolls. Even when we don't get an extra hour, this is quickly becoming our little tradition.

Our Halloween.....

Well, for those of you awaiting pictures of the duck costume, you will have to wait another year. Madie wasn't such a fan of her costume, so we've decided to make her Madie the 2 year old Mallard next year. I guess you just can't tell a 1 year old what they are going to like. We did go trick-or-treating up at the Union with Madie's class, and she wore part of her costume there, but of course didn't want me to take her picture. Madie couldn't get enough of her daddy time- she let Cody hold her most of the time- and didn't really want to have anything to do with me. Could it be that I tried to put on her costume?Eating her crayons, not wanting her picture taken

Coloring with her crayons, still not wanting her picture taken

We had a very good low key Halloween, though. After trick-or-treating at the Union, we met up with Grandma and Grandpa Burns at Chick-Fil-A and had some yummy lunch and lots of play time in the playroom. We then headed over to their house to spend Halloween evening with Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle K.C. and Aunt Amber. It was fun with lots of sugar and some yummy homemade chili!

Madie did decide to dress up- she found a pumpkin cape Grandma had made years ago for Aunt Suzi, and she loved flying around in that, but of course I didn't get any pictures of that!

Excuse me, you have something green on your face

Leave it to a mom to post an embarrassing picture with lettuce stuck on your face!
