21 weeks, new job, and Madie's cute face

The blog hasn't been updated lately, honestly because we haven't had much happen lately. Madie's cousin Lilly is in town for a week, so we will have stuff to post soon, but I don't have pictures of them playing yet. There are things going on in our life, just none that really deserve their own post with graphics included (OK, maybe Madie's cute face deserves its own blog post, but she is sleeping, so I don't have pictures of it right now).
I just looked at our creepy floating baby ticker and it shows I am 21 weeks along today. WOW! Is it just me, or is time FLYING by?! When we were pregnant with Madison it seemed like a week of pregnancy was eternity! Our little boy is going to be here before we know it. And, with him coming comes something else I am very eagerly awaiting- SUMMER! I have just about had it with this cold weather.
Another Burns family development is me going back to work! Last semester I decided that to finish my classes by this fall to start my student teaching would be just a little too much to do. It is really hard to explain to Madie that I can't drop all my school work and play with her all day, so I decided to spread everything out by one more year. Going along with that decision was for me to start working and hopefully bring in some extra MOO-lah and the big one HEALTH INSURANCE! Right now we pay about $350 a month in individual insurance, and it doesn't have maternity coverage (well, it does, but that is after a $7500 deductible is met, which is not an option since I haven't seen $7500 floating around our house lately!). So.......... I am officially a working woman! I started this past week at ARUP Laboratories, and I am loving it so far. It is such a great company, and the money and benefits don't suck.
And, for those of you who followed our drama in the ER last week and were wondering how Miss Madison's cheek is doing- much better. The stitches were not such a fly idea with her- she busted them by Friday night- but it is healing well. We went to Dr. Clayton's yesterday and he said it is healing quite well, and the scaring (if any) shouldn't be too bad.
So, for those of you who read to the very end of this post looking for a shred of interesting information and are still waiting to find that tidbit of info, I apologize. This marks the end of this post, and for now I've got nothing more to share.

Wednesdays are long........

I am only taking 2 classes this semester because I am also going back to work this semester. One of my classes is Tuesday from 10:45 till 1:45, which works out perfect because Miss Jamie is there when I drop Madie off at school and she gets to join her class for lunch at 11:30. Wednesdays, however, my class is from 12:55-2:50, and her class doesn't allow drop-offs between 12:05 and 1:00, so I have to drop her off at noon. Those days are a little tough considering that to get to school at noon we have to leave our house a little before 11:00. Hmmmmm, let me think, there is something important between 11:00 and noon while we are driving up to school......OH, that's it! LUNCH! Yes, we are driving to school during lunch time, and when Madie gets to class it is then nap time (an entirely different story!). So, the only solution I have yet to find to this little predicament it this:

Yes, this is a picture of Madie eating a Chick-Fil-A kids meal with lemonade in her carseat, which means eating fast food in the car*

IT'S A BOY!

Yesterday we snuck behind most people's backs and went to the doctor to get an ultrasound without anyone knowing. That all backfired, as you can see what else we ended up doing yesterday from the previous post. But, while Madie was busy giving us our first parental experience at the ER we were finding out that the little guy growing in my belly and giving us a kick show regularly is actually just that, A LITTLE GUY! Neither of our children have been too shy about showing us THE SHOT in the ultrasound. Madie at least held out till the very end before she stuck her little butt up in the camera, but this little guy was waiting for his moment to shine in the very first image we saw of our baby. Needless to say, we are VERY EXCITED as Cody did the touchdown dance once it sunk in. Cody even asked the lady doing the ultrasound if she was sure it was a boy to which she replied "if that is a girl it is a very funny looking girl." So, at the end of the day we were able to reflect upon a very busy day, and all of our blessings. We have a healthy little boy that is half way brewed, and a healthy little girl that is not messing with her stitches. Not to mention this could very well be the last time I have to get back into shape after having a baby!
And as the lady doing our ultrasound said "it isn't everyday they just give you a shot like this."
Here is his little profile. His head is on the left and his little legs are curled up onto his belly.

We {HEART} Primary Children's Hospital

We started this morning out knowing it was going to be an eventful day (more on that to come later- Cody gets first dibs on that news) but we had no IDEA just HOW eventful it was going to be. Madie had her first boo-boo today, so we loaded her up (actually Daddy and Grandpa loaded her up) and headed to Primary Children's Hospital to meet me up there and get stitches on her cheek. Our tough little girl got 7 stitches, and hardly cried or shed a tear. Now it is official, Cody, Madie and I all have our fireplace battle wounds! It must be a family thing... Madie did so good keeping her bandage on- they put it on once she got there and it had some numbing medicine to make her feel better.

While we were in the waiting room they had a police car toy Madie absolutely LOVED! At first it was almost embarrassing because she wasn't acting sick at all, and we were sitting in the ER.

Once the doctors got in and checked out the battle scar they said it needed stitches, and they said it would be best at her age to sedate her. Here is Daddy and Madie waiting for them to come in and give her some medicine to sedate her. You can kind of see the cut on her left cheek- sorry for those of you who can handle the yucky stuff, I didn't get any close ups of the blood and guts.

And our little girl right before they stitched her up. She is so grown up!

And this concludes our first visit to the hospital or ER as parents. Primary Children's Hospital was so outstanding- all of the staff was amazing. Hopefully we won't have to use them anytime soon, but it is great to know we have something so great so near.
