A picture is worth a thousand words

.... but in this case it just makes you laugh so hard you cry!

Anyone with a kid knows that those few moments of silence are nice, but never a good thing. This time the victim was my mascara- that fun little tube with a brush that Mommy uses every morning and Madie watches very carefully...

....And Madie!

Cody was on the phone with a friend, and I was studying for a test tomorrow. We both assumed the other was watching her until Madie walked into the living room looking like this hot little mess. I, being the responsible parent, of course walked her into the other room where Cody was on the phone before washing the mess off. We both were laughing so hard I was crying and Cody couldn't even finish his call. Then of course, still being very responsible, I walked Madie into the bathroom to take a ton of pictures before I washed it off. At least I don't use waterproof makeup!

For your viewing pleasure I've included all the pictures from the photo shoot.

"Oooooonk"

We are trying to get Madie to understand there is a baby in my tummy, but every time we point to my stomach and say "baby" she looks back at us, puts her finger in my bellybutton and says "ooooonk" (that is Madisonish for "honk"). Today I pointed at my tummy and said "baby" and she pointed back, and with her sweet little voice she said "baby." I thought she might be starting to understand (I know, quite a stretch for an 18 month old). She then put her eye up to my bellybutton like it was a telescope- oh, it was so cute! Well, for the 2 seconds it lasted- she then stuck her finger back in my bellybutton and went "OOOOOONK." All progress has been lost. Oh well!

Grow up? Thats no fun!

Last night my friend Jill and I went out for a girls night. Cody stayed home with Madie and kept up with the BYU game for us, and we painted the town red. Well, actually just Fashion Place, but we had a good time anyways. We first went for some sushi at Teru, which we had some left over, so I called Cody and he told me to box it up and bring it home. That's all fine and dandy if I were on my way home, but it was only 7, so there was still mall time to do! I got home at about 10 after we closed the mall down and then went for some cheesecake, and Cody ate the sushi and hasn't been sick...yet! We had a blast shopping and imitating those funny little middle school girls that are literally right out of the Clueless movie. (only I don't think they were even born when that movie came out!) Express also presented us the opportunity for us to act like my 18 month old daughter and put all the jewelry on I possibly could. And of course for your viewing pleasure we ticked the staff of even more by posing for photos! The things I do for my dear blog readers.

Who wears this stuff seriously?!? The necklaces were made out of plastic beads and were like $70! CRAZY-- Or maybe I am just out of style!

I am bummed my arm looks like I am entering a body building contest. It was just such a lovely but heavy bracelet, I found no way to do it justice!

And when I got home, Madie was already asleep in her crib, but I tucked her in with her cozy Utes blanket. All in all it was a great night. Yay for gaudy jewelry, sushi, Cheesecake Factory, and GO UTES!

The guys... {and me}

Yesterday I went up with Cody to the gun club where we met up with Dom and JT to shoot a round of sporting clays. (do I sound like I know what I'm talking about, b/c I don't actually) It was a lot of fun- I had some random guy there trying to teach me how to hold the shotgun. I got a few targets, but need a lot of practice still. I'm still holding out for my pink T-shirt before I wear my John Deere hat out there though, Dom!

Woohoo for blogs!

So, Cody has been nagging me for some time now to blog about this, and since I just found out about the new features with Blogger Draft after I finished my blogging, I decided I will go ahead a post this. To start off, sorry mom. Before Cody and I met, I didn't have one ounce of tomboy in me. I was a total girly girl's girl. Never shot a gun, never been hunting, and never even had the desire! Well, that has gradually changed, and a few days ago I took the final plunge into officializing our marriage. I went duck hunting, I shot a duck

(actually some ducks), and I had a fun time. As evidence that I had a good time (besides the fact that Cody and I are still together after the experience) I have been ordered by the hubby to also post pictures of me in my duck hunting glory. Enjoy, and if you ever need a guide, you now know who to call!

Picture Tag!

Tagged: Here are the rules, you pick the 4th picture in your fourth folder, and then give a brief decsription.
This picture is of Madie her first time on TRAX. We rode up to the U to turn in my final for my Chicano Experiences class. That was a great day, because it meant that I was done with that class!

Now I tag Sue, Megan, Sarah, and anyone else who hasn't done this tag yet (sorry, even though I love to stalk yall's blogs, I haven't been able to read posts from before I started reading, so I don't know who's already been tagged).
Thanks for tagging me Niki, it was fun to look at my pictures from this summer.

Sorry, I lied.......

....but it is taking me a little longer to put the finishing touches on Madie's costume than I thought. Some of that is because as I was sewing Madison was walking around with my bobbin box taking them out and spreading thread all across the house. It was fun sitting on the floor with her and working on it. We did a lot of laughing, and I found another use for her costume next year- dye the legs green and she would make the perfect frog. While she was sitting down with her feet she totally reminded me of a little froggy!

This year we are going to have "Madie the Mallard" as our guest for Halloween. I've still got to finish up the "duck butt" part, and make the head a little more rigid, but it is coming along! Thanks to my Mom, she actually did most of the work, I just have to sew elastic on the feet, cut out a spot for Madie in the butt, and make a hole for her face. But, since I am not very good at sewing, it took me quite a while just to sew the elastic on. I need to learn to sew!

Drum roll please! {alright, stop now}

Right this moment I am going to start working on finishing up Madie's Halloween costume, so expect photos later today! I've decided to reveal it before Halloween, because we are going to go to the Scarecrow Fest this weekend.

Ready to tackle winter...

...one pair of snow boots at a time!
{insert shameless plug here}
Let me just tell yall how wonderful Zappos is:
I just ordered these bad boys yesterday afternoon, and they arrived on my doorstep about an hour ago! I've read about the company, and that they will do anything for customer service.
I must say free shipping, and it being next day shipping is quite a nice thing. I'm for sure hooked! If you're reading this, go treat yourself to a pair of new shoes from Zappos! But don't blame me if the hubby gets mad- just say you are taking measures to help the economy!

ABCDE...ABCD...UhOh!

There is a little girl in Madison's class that is really good at her ABC's (amazing, she is only a little older than Madie, but she is GOOD!). I guess her a Madie are becoming good friends, and Madie has been doing what she does best, and is now mimicking her little friend. Today I was playing with her in our room, and she was sitting on our ottoman and started singing "ABCDE" and then it is not as easy to understand untill she gets to about where "O" is supposed to go, and she then says "UhOh." Wow, our little girl is growing up!

YaaaHooo! Go Utes!

Madie's "Stats"

Madie had her 18 month check up yesterday, and she is just a growing little girl! She is 22.8 pounds, 32 inches long, and 85th percentile in head circumference!.
